Update....

Nothing really to report on - been playing well but not been playing as much as usual. Generally been quite busy and had family round so that has been more of a priority, also been going to work a little more :( and also to the gym more :).

Was out in Sheffield over the weekend so was too tired to play poker when i got back.

Heads up play has generally been going really well, and i entered the $8k guarateed on Friday and came 3rd - netting $920, so generally had a great few weeks.

Looking to play the $25k guaranted and Heksinki weekly on the weekend, so will have next update soon.

Satallites - Are they worth it?

Readers of my blog probably know that i recently won a satallite which cost me $32+3 ($35) and is worth a cool $7500's. $5000+300 for the tournament entry fee, $1000 spending money and the rest on hotels and flight. Not bad for 35 buks, im sure you will agree.

I was reading a post online an the writer thought that sats were a waste of time beacuse it may cost you 35 buks, but you spend 3 hours to qualify for the online final which would normally cost $350. And then another 3 hours to get a place for the $7500 package.

Well in my eyes, thats 6 hours well spent but I think the point the guy was making was that the 3 hours spent to make the 350 buy in was a waste because you can play a tourney and invest 35 buks to win 350 and buy in directly - you dont get a discount, just the entry.

Unless your a winning pro poker player, the $35 is a good investment. The players are poorer and you find that the ususal structure is 1 place for every 10 that enter so if 200 enter then 20 places are up for grabs - this is much much easier than playing one where there is only 10 players and 1 seat - thats a dead cert. If this structure is in place then the more players the better!!
Also with satallites, you know that you dont have to win the tourney - you can come 5th if there are 5 places up for grabs - if you invest the same in a normal torney - the prize strucure is very much top heavy and the person placed 1st usually walks away with 25% of the prize pool.

So if you looking to go to a major poker tourney - they are not that diffficult if you play the sats and book a place.
