Bad beat of the week

I played in the Heads up mtt a couple of days ago. Buy in is £10+1 so no real shakes if i lose - but still a nice $300 prize.

Down to last 16 and we both have starting chips of 12,000.

I have AK. so i raise 4 times the big blind.
He calls.

Flop AKx

I raise to 3 times the pot. He thinks about it and goes all in.

He shows his hand and its my AK v his A3

Turn 3
River 3.

Ouch....

End of the STT....

Finally.... the STT challenge is over and its good news...

United and myself have decided to chop 1st prize by entering a smaller buy in comp, which is by far a fairer way of ending this challenge. Both of us were playing and results were tight between us, so for one of us to win the 1st prize of an EPT place and the other to win a video ipod was just too massive a gap.

We will be deciding where to go, Helsinki is an option as is an event at the WSOP in Vegas in July.
Personally as I've already been to Vegas, I would like to go to Helsinki or somewhere close to home, as I reckon I'll be able to win a seat to the main event anyway. Vegas is a place you really cant get bored of, but when you have been there once, and you know you are likely to go there again, its good to try and get to places you are probabaly not likely to go to.

It was a tough STT challenge - I always felt like it was going to be tight and all credit to united - he took me all the way. He was like a machine - always playing and I always felt like i had to catch up at the times when he was not playing - which was usually through the night and at weekends.

Its good to know that I have at least 2 big tourneys to play in come 2007.

I feel a bit load off my shoulders and am happy now as I feel i can get my 'game back'.

I played a little cash last night and was im amazing form - bought in for $100 and played for 15 minutes on $1/2 to show a healthy $200 profit - happy days!!

STT update

2 weeks of the STT challenge undergone and after leading in week one, I find myself slightly behind United113 so I've got work to do!

Well I'm working from home these days so I can get some good hrs in during the day and chill a little in the evening, go gym etc, and do a few more hrs late into the nite. And as I'm up early too I can get some more games in! Im playing mainly heads up, as they are quick and can normally play 2 at a time!

I'm playin really well at the moment which always helps as its not the number of games played but the number of games won, so i'll let you know the results as they are out!

After a great week of qualifying for the APC - a $7500 package, i'm gonna try and qualify for the Dublin Poker Masters and hopefully win teh STT and go to Copenhagen in January for the EPT which is a 6000 euro package.

Wish me luck!

Virgin STT Challenge

One thing i can say about Virgin poker is that they really do try and make the poker experience all lot better than most sites out there. They have a great team that actually do a lot for their customers, in terms of V points (the V points are great - I've already collected 60,000 (40,000 gives you a return flight to Dubia, 45,000 gives you a return flight to Las Vegas)), the STT challenge ( which I won to go to Las vegas) as well a freerolls, V points freerolls and now a Virgin Booty MTT ( which I got placed in on the weekend and won an i-pod, hehe).

So well done virgin!

Ok, well the STT challenge is on and after the 1st week i was in the lead. I wasnt planning to really go for it but as I was 1st and had a week off, I've really been going for it. I've been mainly playing during the day, rested in the evening and been putting hours in through the night!!

I've mainly been playing heads up, and man does it get boring!! It actually messes up the rest of your game when you play it fo r8 hours coninuous, as its a totally different game to 5 seater and 10 seater and the mtt's. Fortunately, it hasn't effected me to much as i played a great game in the APC final!!

Results are out today so I'm sure i'll still be leading - but I know united113 is keen as mustard and Ive seen him putting some hours in so it will be interesting!!

Next update soon, i promise!!
